For Americans seeking a modern-day ark to weather the political storm far from the eye of the social upheaval, the Odyssey cruise ship might be the perfect refuge. On board, passengers will be able to “escape from reality” and “skip forward” four years of their lives—equivalent to the duration of President-elect Trump’s term in office.
This unique opportunity was unveiled by Villa Vie Residences shortly after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election on November 5. The company’s Tour La Vie program promises an “uninterrupted global adventure for up to 4 years,” during which participants will visit over 425 ports in more than 140 countries across all seven continents. Travelers will be given an “unprecedented opportunity to explore the world from their floating home with ever-changing backyards.”

The press release from the Florida-based cruise company says nothing about politics. And certainly, no one is directly inviting Kamala Harris supporters, who are feeling down after the Democratic candidate’s defeat in Tuesday’s election, to seek refuge abroad. However, Trump’s opponents may find a hidden political subtext in the names of the exclusive offer packages:
- 1-Year Escape from Reality
- 2-Year Mid-Term Selection
- 3-Year Everywhere but Home
- 4-Year Skip Forward
The names of the first and last packages are quite self-explanatory, while the “2-Year Mid-Term Selection” package, as reported by VICE, allows travelers to avoid the political landscape until after the 2026 midterm elections.
The offer is sure to appeal not only to Trump opponents but also to celebrities and wealthy Americans across the political spectrum. According to Fortune, 53% of American millionaires shared with Arton Capital, a global financial advocacy group, their plans to leave the U.S. after the election—regardless of the outcome. Armand Arton, CEO of Arton Capital, remarked, “The rising political division at home is prompting many affluent Americans to explore a ‘Plan B’ overseas.”
The Tour La Vie program starts at just under $40,000 per year, covering meals, spa services, fitness programs, internet access, weekly housekeeping, and more.
